Is Ikos Really Worth The Price Tag?

The luxury all inclusive reviewed by a mum, a wine lover and a Travel Counsellor

Emily Ramji on 25 May 2026

If you have ever browsed those dreamy “luxury all inclusives” and gulped at the total price, you are not alone. Ikos positions itself as an elevated all inclusive: beachfront resorts in Greece and Spain designed to feel seamless, beautifully stylish and genuinely hassle free. As a Travel Counsellor and a mum, I have stayed at several Ikos resorts as a paying guest with my two young children, and I have also visited as a travel professional: meeting teams on site, touring room types and understanding how the concept has evolved. I also work with a wide range of other luxury hotels across Europe, many at a lower price point, so I have a good feel for where Ikos sits in the wider market. This is not a brochure rewrite. It is my honest view on whether Ikos justifies the cost, what it does brilliantly and how to choose the right resort for you.

What All Ikos Resorts Do Brilliantly

There is a strong Ikos “DNA” you can feel in every property.

Elevated All Inclusive, Not “Buffet Plus”
Ikos is built around an elevated all inclusive concept rather than one big buffet and a few extras. Expect:

  • Multiple à la carte restaurants with distinct personalities and menus, many open for both lunch and dinner, ranging from barefoot-on-the-sand beach venues to beautifully styled, glitzy Asian restaurants for evenings only
  • A seriously considered wine list with both local and international wines; my wine loving husband has never been disappointed
  • An on site sommelier who will happily guide you and open a new bottle for you, not just pour from whatever is already open
  • Premium cocktails and coffees you would happily order at home: think frozen margaritas by the pool and spicy margaritas in beautiful glasses late into the evening
  • A minibar restocked daily, and essentially whenever you want, with whatever you want
  • 24 hour room service included, in addition to any meals you have in the restaurants
  • Kids clubs included as part of the concept

You pay once, and you genuinely do not have to think about the bill again unless you choose spa treatments, babysitting or very specific extras.

Calm, Natural Aesthetic
The design language is consistent across the collection:

  • Soft neutrals, natural textures and a soothing, beach house feel
  • High end finishes that are stylish but never flashy

You feel comfortable in linen and sandals, not obliged to dress up every night, although you absolutely can if you want to.

Service That Quietly Over Delivers
Ikos is very guest experience focused. Staff are warm, proactive and brilliant with children. They remember your coffee order, your children’s quirks and your preferred table, and they will go out of their way to recreate favourite dishes or wines from other restaurants.

Babysitting is an extra cost, but in our early parenting years we paid for staff we already knew and trusted from the kids club to babysit in the evenings. Being able to slip out for a proper date night, knowing the children were with familiar faces, felt incredibly special at a time when we were not getting much of that at home.

One of our rituals was having a bottle of champagne sent to the room each evening for balcony drinks while the children wound down. It felt wonderfully indulgent, and it was all part of the concept.

Where Ikos Resorts Really Differ

The big differences between resorts are mostly practical, and they really matter when choosing where to stay:

  • Size and layout: Some are compact and flat, perfect with buggies and little legs. Others are more spread out or terraced and feel more expansive and grown up.
  • Beach and sea: From soft sand to sand-and-shingle; from glass calm bays to more open, occasionally choppier stretches. This makes a big difference with toddlers versus teens.
  • Calm vs buzz: Some resorts feel serene and low key, others offer more “buzz” with activities, White Parties on the beach and outdoor evening shows.
  • Facilities for tweens and teens: All are family friendly, but some excel at sports, courts and watersports rather than just playgrounds and kids clubs.
  • Wellness and gyms: The quality of the gyms and wellness spaces is fantastic, but each Ikos has a different size and set up, including indoor and outdoor gym areas. If fitness or spa time is important to you, I can steer you towards the properties that fit that best.
  • Restaurants and choice: Quality is consistent, but larger properties have more venues, which really helps on longer 10–14 night stays.
  • Time of year and weather: Between Greece and Spain, shoulder season weather can feel very different. For May half term or October, some destinations are a much better bet for pool weather than others.

These are exactly the nuances I work through with you so that the Ikos you choose genuinely fits your stage of life, dates and holiday style.

Practical Extras That Really Add Value

A few inclusions often overlooked in the headline price:

1. The Ikos App
Download it before you travel so you can:

  • Pre book restaurants, spa and kids club
  • Check menus, opening times and activities
  • Use it as a daily planner once you are there

It keeps everything running smoothly, especially in school holidays.

2. Complimentary Ikos Car Days
On many stays you receive a complimentary car day for each full week. Over the years we have driven a Tesla, a Mini and an electric Mini. When our children were tiny, we stayed mostly on resort. As they (and we) have had more energy, these car days have been brilliant for exploring local villages, viewpoints and hidden coves we would never see if we stayed purely poolside.
(Always check the exact offer for your resort and dates, as inclusions can change.)

3. Dine Out
The on resort food is so good that you will not be desperate to escape by day three. However, if you do want a traditional local taverna or restaurant, the Dine Out programme lets you eat at selected nearby venues as part of your stay. The options vary by resort and are a lovely way to feel rooted in the destination while keeping the ease of all inclusive.

Getting The Room Layout Right

Room choice can genuinely change how your week feels:

  • With very young children, a junior suite with a sofa bed can be cosy and simple.
  • As they grow, one or two bedroom suites with proper beds and doors between sleeping spaces often make everyone happier.
  • For multigenerational trips, interconnecting rooms or villas give you breathing space without losing that “all together” feeling.

This is where my combination of client feedback and personal experience really helps. We look at your family structure, sleep patterns, privacy needs and budget to find the sweet spot, not just the headline room type.

So… Is Ikos Worth The Price Tag?

Ikos is a significant investment. It is not “a quick cheap week in the sun”.

However, once you have paid, the relief of not thinking about money every day is huge. You are not weighing up restaurant choices against your credit card or constantly signing off bar bills. Between the restaurants, room service, cocktails, wine list, kids clubs and so many thoughtful inclusions, the number you see at booking is essentially the number you live with, unless you are adding spa, babysitting or other extras.

Alongside Ikos, I work with a number of brilliant luxury hotels across Europe, often at a lower price point, which can be perfect for some families. Where Ikos pulls ahead is in how much is included, how consistently it delivers that across every part of your stay, and how little you have to think or compromise once you arrive.

For many of my clients, and for us as a family, it feels worth it because:

  • You get time back: no researching, budgeting or negotiating over dinner plans.
  • Day to day stress drops away, especially with young children.
  • Quality is consistently high: food, wine, cocktails, service, activities and design live up to the promise.
  • Wellness and fitness are easy to build in, with excellent gym and spa spaces.
  • You feel remembered and cared for, not just processed as another room number.

If you are at a life stage where holidays are precious and you want reassurance that a big spend will actually deliver, Ikos can absolutely justify its price tag.

How I Can Help You Choose

The real question is not “Is Ikos good?” but “Which Ikos, in which room, at which time of year, is right for you?” That means looking at:

  • Ages and personalities of your children
  • Calm beaches versus lots going on
  • Compact and easy versus big and buzzing
  • How much space and privacy you need
  • How important a particular style of gym, spa or wellness space is to you
  • Budget and ideal length of stay
  • Whether you are tied to peak dates or more flexible

That is where I come in. I use my first hand experience, up to date Ikos knowledge and understanding of your family to match you to the right resort so that the investment feels genuinely worthwhile. If you would like to explore which Ikos might be your perfect fit, just get in touch and I will put together tailored options for you.
