Singapore & Bali Family Holiday: A Brilliant Multi Centre For Families
Summer holidays don’t have to mean Europe. If you are looking for a bigger adventure that still works smoothly with children, a two week Singapore and Bali family holiday can be a fantastic option: city, jungle and beach in one trip, with just three bases.
Why a Singapore & Bali family holiday works so well
From the UK you can usually fly direct into Singapore, often overnight, and then it’s around 3 hours on to Bali. That makes Singapore a very natural gateway:
- Night flight from London
- A couple of nights in a safe, easy city to reset and explore
- Then on to Bali for the main part of the holiday
On the way home, you can either repeat the stopover with one more night in Singapore to break up the journey, or fly straight back from Bali with a short connection in Singapore before the long haul to the UK. For families this combination gives:
- An exciting city start
- Time in Bali’s jungle and rice terraces
- A full week by the coast
- All with three carefully chosen bases rather than lots of one‑night stops.
Stop 1: Singapore – skylines, gardens and neighbourhoods
Many families start with 2 or 3 nights in Singapore, which is usually enough to:
- Wander around Marina Bay and see the skyline
- Visit Gardens by the Bay and stay for the Supertree light show
- Dip into Chinatown and Kampong Glam for temples, colourful streets and food courts
Everything is very clean and English is widely spoken, so it’s a gentle introduction to Asia for children and teens

Stop 2: Ubud – Bali’s cultural and green heart
Next comes Ubud, often for around 4 nights. This is central Bali’s cultural hub and works brilliantly for:
- Rice terraces and jungle scenery
- The Monkey Forest and local markets in town
- Gentle bike rides through villages and rice paddies
- Short temple visits
- Optional family‑friendly rafting for a soft‑adventure day
It’s easy to build in a balance of “doing days” and hotel‑pool days so no one feels rushed.
Stop 3: Bali coast – choose your vibe
Finally, add a week on the coast in one base. The three areas I most often look at for families are:
- Seminyak – west coast, big sunsets, beach clubs, cafés and boutiques. Great if older children like a bit of evening buzz.
- Sanur – south‑east coast, seafront promenade, calmer sea and lots of relaxed, family‑friendly cafés. Perfect for easy walks and lower‑key evenings.
- Nusa Dua – upmarket resort strip with 4 - 5 star hotels, manicured gardens and a sheltered beach. Ideal if you prefer a resort bubble with everything on hand.
From any of these bases you can also add a boat trip to the Nusa islands (such as Nusa Penida) for a “big day out” with white‑sand beaches and viewpoints, often including hotel transfers, fast boat and lunch.

Food
Food‑wise, Singapore and Bali are fantastic for trying new flavours, from hawker dishes and fresh fruit juices to Balinese specialities. There are also plenty of simple, familiar options in the background – cafés, pizzerias, hotel restaurants – so you can mix local dishes with more straightforward meals as and when it suits everyone.
When to go
July and August fall in Bali’s dry season, so you can expect warm, mostly sunny days with lower humidity, ideal for sightseeing in the mornings and relaxing by the pool or beach later on. Singapore is hot and tropical year‑round, with brief showers and plenty of sunshine for city exploring.
How long do you need?
A really nice structure for the summer holidays is:
- 2 nights in Singapore
- 4 nights in Ubud (Bali’s inland cultural centre)
- 7 nights on the Bali coast (Seminyak, Sanur or Nusa Dua)
- 1 final night in Singapore before flying home
Travel between stops is very manageable: it’s usually around 1 - 1.5 hours by car from Bali’s airport to Ubud, then another 1 - 1.5 hours from Ubud down to the main coastal areas, so “Ubud + one beach base” works without long overland journeys.
London- Singapore is about 13 hours non‑stop, Singapore - Bali about 3 hours, and the return Bali - UK journey usually takes 17 - 20 hours door to door with one connection. Put together, this Singapore and Bali family itinerary gives you a very balanced multi‑centre holiday: a city stopover, time in Ubud and a beach stay, without constant moving around.
Could this work for your family?
Trips like this can be tailored around:
- Your children’s ages and interests
- How much “doing” vs downtime you want
- Your budget once flights and summer dates are factored in
- Room configurations that give everyone a proper bed
